Natural Law Liberalism—An Ideology for the Republican Party
Do you ever wonder why Democratic politicians frequently resort to name calling when challenging Republicans? Why do the so-called mainstream media always seem to have the same anti-Republican talking points? Why are Republican judges consistently portrayed as evil? Why do progressive commentators and democratic policy makers always seem to “talk down” to their conservative opponents?

While I admire the article's thrust and the author's willingness to challenge the GOP status quo, what he calls "natural law liberalism" -- the belief that animated Thomas Jefferson and others among the Found Fathers -- will forever be distasteful to politicians. Politicians love power far too much to embrace an ideology that explicitly denies them all but a tiny amount of power. Also, a politician with tiny power has nothing to sell to favor-seekers with fat wallets. How, then, would our $200,000-a-year Congressmen ever become multimillionaires, as they believe is their right?
ReplyDeleteNow, if you could sell natural law liberalism to the common American citizen, that would be something! But sadly, it comes up against an important facet of human nature: As Thomas Szasz put it, freedom is that which you demand for yourself but would deny to others. Under an NLL regime, everyone would have the maximum degree of freedom possible in a human society! How, then, would my neighbor punish me for letting my dogs out at 4:00 AM? And how would I punish him for not mowing his lawn for six weeks straight?
Sadly, this freedom under natural rights stuff will never play in Canarsie.
People would need to resurrect the middle land of manners and traditions, but that just smacks of white privilege or something equally icky.
DeleteJust an observation, but why do the writers of articles like this feel like it's a place to try to show off rather than actually communicate something useful? Dropping the article into a bunch of analyzers, they rated it lower in readability than an insurance contract. These things read like the manifesto you find after a narcissistic person has done something...dramatic.

Because most writers believe that the point of writing is demonstrating superiority, not transmitting information.
DeleteIf this was hard, never try reading the Federalist Papers, or any historical document... probably including the Constitution of the United States. Just saying.

It works, look at where we are today compared to 20 years ago
In the effort to be understanding the general public has allowed their ideas to become mainstream
The Golden Rule is " He with the gold makes the rules ", and big corporations, Wallstreet, the corporate media, and rich elitists like Soros, the Walton heirs, Bezos among others support the communist agenda.
There are many other reasons but those are at the top

Why do so many business leaders support socialism? Because to make it to the top, you have to climb the ladder, but to stay on top, you need to pull up the ladder. And that's what leftists actually want to do: gain themselves an unearned position along those that worked for their high positions, then ensure others cannot climb anymore.
