I met a relative of whatever that was. We have wild critters in the area, so when I am out stretching my aching joints, I carry a good flashlight. Cats, deer, possum, bunny, coyote, whistle pig, etc. One evening I met a "black furry worm with glowing eyes". Fast mover!. Probably up from the creek. Ka-Zoom! I was not a "friend" with food, so he/she beat paws into the darkness. Darn things seem to know that humans live in the area, and know how to read the "signs".
Now, if I can only keep the bunny and "Bambi" out of the garden......
