Saw that in person one time, except the guy was clad in what looked to be full body chainmail. Hopefully, the company hires employees based on merit, not skin color or wokeness quotient.
We were in the Florida Keys this week and they are working on the power poles alongside the long bridges. The fellas and all their equipment gets flown out there at the end of a cable. 2 guys get delivered to each pole and then the copter brings a long string of buckets that has their gear. Then they fly out the replacement cross pieces one at a time. We saw them start at 9am and quit at 4.
You can tell by the expression on his face and overall nonchalance. So whats the big effing deal anyway? Shit, this is so easy I can do it in my sleep. And the lineman getting on and off, Ehh whatever! It takes a certain mindset to work at heights, not everyone has it or can even work towards overcoming it.

ReplyDeleteI've done helo ops to get tower steel stacked and radio boom gates landed, but never had the opportunity to get delivered to the tower itself by one.
