And this is why I'm all for automating trucking because this is exactly how the majority of the drivers conduct themselves on the road. Pulling out in front of people, racing 70-80 down the freeway with a fully loaded bed of gravel, and to top of it off, one of these fools flew off a 30' hill top into my drive way and chewed up the road.
He claimed someone pulled out in front of him but I'm pretty sure he just fell asleep, the turns here eat inattentive people all the time and there is usually always one guard rail in repair. TMK, he's back on the road and the company never made good on their promise to fix the driveway. We didn't need any free gravel, just someone to come fix the culvert and pack the ruts in. I'll let others guess the race of the driver and company owners.
They illegally park all the time in town, but the police are so inept that nothing is done. It will probably take a few people getting killed from not being able to see around the damn trailers before that changes. The cherry on top; they have dedicated rig parking lots on two streets adjacent to the establishments that attract them but are too lazy to use it. Police are only useful when they are being paid under the table. I can't wait to leave Texas, even the countryside is bad now.
and i am all for morons not being able to use keyboards anonymously. i guess according to your way of thinking no one should be able to drive a car or pickup, because i see them lose stuff or run into others and of course drive drunk or stoned. hell i have even seen them change a flat tire in the right lane of the freeway even when there was a very wide shoulder available. there are idiots even all walks of life. don
I'm neutral on requiring a publicly posted ID, it has a whole range pros and cons that would be hard pressed to discuss in a comment box. All comments have a network address associated to them and even VPNs are only psudo-anonymous.
Perhaps there are idiots everywhere, however, an idiot behind the wheel of a 60,000-80,000lb rig can do far more damage than pimple popper in a Corolla. The vehicle class carries a far greater risk to others and in lieu of automating the industry, should require a far greater licensing and screening. Comparing an industrial vehicle to John Doe's pickup isn't even apples to oranges, it's apples to a mustard leaf. As it is right now, licensing and screening is sorely lacking and prosecutions are so rare they might as well not exist; I don't see it changing anytime soon.
It looked like that ambulance took off under its own power. If it had been properly tied down with the transmission in park there would have been a lot of tire smoke when they hit pavement. Then it seems to have sped up to pass the car in the middle lane. Someone was in the vehicle.
Dumbass doing 70 mph in the fast lane

ReplyDeleteYet another example of "videos that end too soon"...
ReplyDeleteEmergency run on a call. Nice dismount
ReplyDeleteNah. That ambulance looked to be under control; I'm guessing it was a movie stunt.
