Vanderbilt University Medical Center Studying Ivermectin to Treat Symptoms of COVID-19

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is studying the effects of three “repurposed” drugs in treating mild and moderate symptoms of COVID-19.

The study – a part of a large, national study begun earlier this year – is examining the effectiveness of Ivermectin, Fluvoxamine, or Fluticasone on the symptoms of the illness.

    2. Interestingly, a similar UK study was just cancelled due to "supply issues" from Merck. I would expect the same to happen here.

    3. Follow up: Merck got a $2.2 billion contract from the U.S. Gubmint for their new, "improved" Ivermectin pills.

    4. Mofo that would be the merckmectin pill. The alternate is pfizermectin pill.

  2. This is like a group of foxes determining if foxes are hazardous to chicken's health. A liberal cesspool researching a liberal talking point. They are going to give people the drugs after they have had flauci flu for weeks. Then declare it useless. Odds are the study will have no results until after the next election. How convenient.

  3. Testing? The NERVE! No TESTING is needed! Everything Other than The Jab is EEEEVILL! Anything, and I mean Anything that Trump even Mentioned as a possible solution is EEEEVILL! I can't believe you people don't know that.

  4. It's tough to test because the disease isn't very dangerous to most people. At .25% death rate and .5% hospitalization, they'll need 50,000 infected subjects to get a few hundred severe cases that result in hospitalization or death.

The previous tests waited until patients were near death to try ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine treatments. The FDA determined the drugs don't bring you back when it's already too late. In other words, the drugs didn't work. I hope VandyLand can determine something useful from early treatments. They said it's a small study, so it likely won't find anything.

  5. Meh.
The results will somehow be found to be "inconclusive".

      Ya.
They will under-dose, or till the patient is dead to administer the IVM.

  6. Since Francis Collins, the Director of the NIH, is Fauci's wife I got a pretty good idea how this study will turn out.

  7. Well shit this is easy.

GO READ THE FUKING STUDIES ALREADY DONE FFS.

    71 trials, 50,000 patients.

83% and 66% efficacy prophylactic and in early treatment respectively.

Only 34% in late treatment. 57% overall improvement.

One dr treated over 4000 patients with zero deaths. These treatments are tried and true when given EARLY.

What is the standard protocol when you get positive result? Go home, palliative care, call us back when the wuflu has a firm grip on your life... setting people up for bad outcomes.

Yet, the message remains, follow fauXi like good sheep - and these stupid libs fall in line. Outfuckingstanding. Glad I'm on the old side of life or I'd be really pissed.

    Early use is key.

  9. After two years, our study has confirmed the following:

    1) When administered in doses of .02 picograms per week, Ivermectin does nothing to cure COVID. It is therefore ineffective.
    2) When administered along with 500 mg of cyanide, the patients all died. It is therefore potentially dangerous.

  10. While all the studies and research papers I've read shows that Ivermectin can fight the 'rona in more ways than Wonder Bread can build strong bodies, I think everyone may be overlooking the original intent of this medicine. It's a superb antiparasitic. I've read that it's likely that 90% of the humans on the planet have some kind of parasites, no matter where on earth they live. Parasites are a drain on your immune system. Kill off the parasites and your immune system has more ability to fight off the Covid, and maybe that's all it takes to beat this pissant infection.

    1. FWIW, it was originally developed as an anti-viral drug (yeah, only in horses /sarc), but was found to work well as an anti-parasitic, as good or better than what else was available. I still have people up my way (medical people, dammit) arguing that it's dangerous.

      Oh, well. Darwin wins again.
