85-year-old woman to be paroled in 1973 death of young stepson, killing of husband 2 decades later

KINSTON, N.C. — An 85-year-old North Carolina woman serving life for the murders of her 4-year-old stepson and her husband decades apart has been granted parole.

Sylvia Ipock White’s release date has been set for Dec. 2, 2022, according to WITN in Greenville. White, of Kinston, was convicted in 1993 of hiring two men to kill her husband, prominent insurance agent Billy Carlyle White Sr.

They felt pretty safe doing this - at 85 years old and her release date a year away, there's a pretty good chance she's not going to make it anyway.

  1. Women that old tend to have problems like osteoporosis. Better to not have her in a state institution.
Too bad they didn't give her a high voltage treatment in 1994.

    1. Amen. We should be ending murderers instead of paying to warehouse them for decades. Storage costs are too high.

  2. Maybe the same compasionate reason behind her pending release is why the NYC Manhattan DA, Alvin bragg, is to stop seeking prison sentences in a slew of criminal cases.

    1. More like, let the U.S., rather than the state dept of corrections foot the bill for her medical care.

    2. Stopping prison sentences has another goal: prisons tend to be located in rural areas. Prison populations are usually included with population counts when it comes to allocating gummint dollars. Fewer prisons = lesser rural population = lesser dollars going to people who don't support the gummint as much.

    1. Probably so they don't have to pay for her medical care. Shes old and looking to get expensive.

    2. Health care costs for senior convicts are huge so it's cheaper to release them and let them die than to keep housing, clothing, feeding and providing medical care for them.

  5. Nope, fuck er. Let her rot in prison. Killing the husband meh. Killing a four year old, nope.

  6. They should've taken her out back and shot her a long time ago. Plus, where in the hell is she going to go? Does she have family that are going to welcome her home with open arms? Sounds to me that she's still going to be on the government dole.
