Commentary: Criminal ‘Catch and Release’ Is Plaguing Our Country

“Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”

That song and those words used to open the show Cops along with scenes of the police chasing down and arresting the “bad boys.” Viewers assume those apprehended would be spending some time in the slammer.

Today? Not so much. We seem to have more crime than ever, and those who commit the crimes simply cycle through the revolving door of the criminal justice system, hurting those of us who are still law-abiding.

have to run a 4.4 anymore.

  2. shoot, shovel, shut up. When the bad guys don't see any consequences, they get worse. At some point, I won't see any reason to call a cop. I'll just kill 'im. Yes, for minor stuff. Dead is an absolute deterrent for that offender. At 10:1 odds I'll get away with it, I'll think hard. At 20:1, why not. Check out the solve rate on homicide in major cities....

  4. As a Prosecutor in MI, I just got a guy bound over for trial who stalked his ex-girlfriend from CA to MI while out on a "personal recognizance" bond in CA. He was released over the objections of the prosecutor out there and came here to show up on her parents' front door step after texting her, "I'm going to fucking murder you."

Our Court set his bond at $200k cash or surety and he's not getting out any time soon.

    1. Second rule is, "Officer, I was afraid for my life," shut up and call a lawyer.
