Beloved improvisation comedian and Emmy-nominated actor Howard Hesseman, best known for his role in "WKRP in Cincinnati," died following a surgery Saturday afternoon.
Hesseman was a highly-intelligent actor (a person would have to be to be, talented as he was). But, while making a buck off the very people he was making laugh, he was actively and secretly working against Freedom.
Don't say it's not nice or improper to speak ill of the dead. If Hesseman was alive today, he would still be speaking ill of gun-owners.
Howard was the heart and soul of WKRP from the first episode to the last. My favorite was when Johnny and Venus were at the transmitter and Johnny destroyed the phone since he couldn't call his bookie and in the last scene races into the studio office and dove behind the couch yelling "Phone Police".
When I was in the Radio biz I worked for a guy who worked for the turkey drop station and remembered the way it went down was even funnier than what we saw on WKRP. FYI there were LOTS or Mr. Carlson's in the Radio biz back then.
The worst part of getting older is everyone dies. Rest in peace Dr. Johnny Fever aka: Howard Hesserman. Thanks for all the laughs you brought to your viewers JD
I never saw the show but think my kid watched it. I guess a lot of people liked it.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite TV shows ever!
ReplyDeleteSeemed like a good guy. His role as the disc jockey was well played. Condolences for his passing.
ReplyDeleteHis IMDb page reveals he was a DJ before he was an actor. And that he was a friend and occasional lover of Janis Joplin!
Delete"Seemed like a good guy". Er, no. He advocated victim-disarmament:
