Nation’s oldest living WWII veteran, Lawrence Brooks, dies at the age of 112
Lawrence N. Brooks, the oldest World War II veteran in the U.S. — and believed to be the oldest man in the country — died on Wednesday at the age of 112.
Lo, There do I see my Father Lo, There do I see my Mother and My Brothers and my Sisters Lo, There do I see the line of my people back to the beginning Lo, They do call to me They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla Where thine enemies have been vanquished Where the brave shall live Forever Nor shall we mourn but rejoice for those that have died the glorious death.
Pvt Brooks, the country thanks you for your service. Mr Brooks we all thank you for being such a great all around person. To the family and friends of Mr Brooks, my condolences for your loss, may he Rest in Peace JD
They estimate that there are less than 240,000 living WWII soldiers remaining. I am 61 years old. I might be alive long enough to see the last soldier of that war pass from this earth. That day better be marked with a nation wide day of memorial, and be made into a national day of mourning, for ever more. It was that generation that kept us from speaking German, to this day. And those who were involved in actual fighting, went through some of the worst hell that the world has ever seen. Rest in Peace, Pvt Brooks. You have earned it.
All the men in my family served in WW2, some as soldiers and some as sailors, some in Europe and some in the Pacific. My dad was with the 5th Army, wounded and permanently disabled in Germany. Once he retired I thought maybe he would want to go back and see the changes but he said he saw all of Germany he intended to see already Rest in Peace dad JD
He served GOD for 112 years. GOD blessed him in many ways.
