  1. If you have the maturity to carry a firearm for government armed forces, you have the maturity to carry one for yourself. Any argument to the contrary is bullshit.

    1. Are you seriously going to argue that unsupervised civilians possess the same level of discipline as servicemen in a military unit?

Then there is the condition where if two bubba civvies act stupidly that as long as there are no serious injuries or property damage they'll probablyget away with it, i.em, no punishment. That is not likely on base.

    2. So as not to infringe the 2d Amendment, the government in the name of safety should strongly encourage, but not require, each new CCP holder to take a basic firearms safety course, familiarize himself with his firearm, and spend some minimal range time to at least get the feel of the firearm.

    3. VMS - there's no permit required to carry a concealed firearm in Tennessee.
Myself, I feel that anybody that carries a gun should know how to safely handle and shoot it, as well as knowing the laws concerning using deadly force in a self defense situation. These are things anybody that's half ass responsible should want to know. If you don't want to do that, then don't carry a deadly weapon.

I think that argument could EASILY be made.
Some of the WORST gun handling I’ve personally witnessed was by military trained fuckwits. Thank you for your service now go back to working on diesels.

As for “bubba civvies” acting stupidly, I would trust MANY of them who handle guns every day rather than some military clowns I’ve met that think their quals in boot 15+ yrs ago make them a Gun Expert.
And just how many times are soldiers able to carry on base as compared to “civvies” that carry Every Fucking Day? Gimme a break.

  2. Not a good idea when you consider whst seems to be the average age of inner city carjacking, mugging perps.

    1. Those carry a gun anyway, regardless of age.

    2. No argument there, but I see lowering the age limit as giving a decent prosecutor one less tool to slap these perps upside the head with.

    3. Fuckitt, they are not using the tools they have now.

Every crime should have an action verb associated with it, not just possession of something.

Carjacking should be prosecuted regardless if the perp has a knife, a gun or a pipe.

  3. 2A "Shall Not." Hella yeah 18. If you can vote in a national election and kill or be killed in the military protecting the republic then you can 2A carry without permit. What part of "shall not" do you retards not understand? HUH? Funny that: I did not notice the auto weapons carve out. Nor the clause for cannons or weaponized aircraft. WHUT UP wiff dat?

  4. Old enough to vote or be drafted olded enough to CC. Take a class, pass a background check and may God be with you.

  5. I dunno. I should think it's great, but I have a feeling that if carried a gun when I was 18, I'd still be in prison.

At least in the military, you have discipline and training. Something I didn't have at that age...

  6. So in the vast empty spaces in the heads of those idiots that write and pass laws in Louisiana we have a somewhat of a conflicting law.
Open carry in La is 18, no training, permit or background check,
21 to carry concealed, permit required, training, photo, fingerprints and background check.
Possession of handgun is 18 but of course perchance is 21.
SMH, I'm not going to put in writing what I'm thinking but many can guess I'm sure.

  7. Yes, they should teach safe gun handling as part of the basic school curriculum. Add in explaining what assault is, and covering the laws regarding use of force. Let youth know the behavior they see on TV can get them thrown in jail. Some folks settle right down after a little knowledge.

    1. This!

After a hunter safety course it's not uncommon for a kid to spot a gun safety hazard that their older relatives get complacent about over the years.

  8. How many here think HB1735 is election-year showboating and has absolutely no chance of passage?
