Grocery stores out of stock? Expert says winter storms to blame
Empty shelves and out-of-stock items at local grocery stores are conjuring up memories of Spring 2020, but experts say the pandemic isn’t really to blame this time.

Grocery store shelves sit empty as supply chain crisis continues
"Experts"? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of my local WalMarts, it is likely the same problem it has always been. They leave the stuff sitting in back, or shrink-wrapped on pallets in the aisles, instead of stocking the shelves.
ReplyDeleteProbably. There's a fairly large local chain (very similar to a WalMart SuperCenter in terms of product line) which has 2 stores within 15 miles of me. While both sport signs that various (often the same) products have limits on quantity, one of these stores quite often has empty spaces, and has had for the last couple years, while the other is rarely out of stock of anything.
DeleteMight be the manager, might be the purchasing agent, might even be the restock crew. But I don't think it's probably a general shortage thing.
Then explain empty shelves in central Oklahoma. They are just experts in their own minds
ReplyDeleteSittin' here in Southern Arizona, I've yet to see any of this "empty shelves" crap. The only things we're stating to see shortages of are durable goods - groceries are just fine. And the durable goods can usually be found online.

It's all due to the laziness of our current society. From produce to consumer. Always someone else's problem.
ReplyDeleteLocal Walmart says they don't do the heavy stocking until store closes at 11. Their problem is not enough people to get the store stocked, people take advantage of their lenient covid call off guidelines.
ReplyDeleteWa State hiway east west movement was down due to "heavy, dangerous, snow." Nothing to do with "there normally is 25 plow drivers, now there is 4 because we fired all the unjabbed". State refused to allow County to help because they didn't fire their unjabbed drivers.
ReplyDeleteWill have to think really hard how to fuck things up more than they did with good intentions. My business stance is "If you are vac'd, YOU must show a DAILY (not the rolling 3 day bs) negative test AND wear a mask. Don't care what the unvac'd do or don't.
Hawaii has covid which had to come from the vac'd, because the unvac'd had to show a negative test to get in in the first place.

If the information comes from mainstream media, based on the opinion of an "expert", I treat that info as a distraction from the truth. It's like all these explanations for miscarriages, clots, strokes, and heart conditions being due to climate change or smoking weed. It's just propaganda providing cover for the not-a-vax and it's (unintended?) side effects.
ReplyDeleteSo I just got back from Walmart, seriously, and the shelves are not looking great down here. Stuff nobody wants is full and on sale but regular stuff is getting thin, I went ahead and stocked up on paper towels and toilet paper before they come back with the 1 per customer crap. I probably have enough tp last until next January unless I let another woman move in, NOT, and she uses it all up.

It's fired workers, across the nation, followed by the excellent articles on JIT inventory (a couple hiccups and it crashes), the changed dynamics of industrial vs residential processing since so many kids out of school.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bunch of things, only resolved by DUMPING mandates and show your papers bullshit. Rebalancing of supply/demand/cost

Had cats as long as I've been alive. NEVER seen so many stores with empty cat food shelves. What're all us old farts going to eat when the republicrats take over again?
