I wonder if 'literally' ever made that list. I over heard a conversation a couple years ago where this young lady used literally at least 5 times - "Then he literally told me that I literally needed to..."
Even worse 'like' mixed in e.g. 'He like literally.'

And add in the Valley Girl of OMuhgawd ‘He like literally… omuhgawd!’

Good to see you back.

They say Bromance is overused. What about Homance? Used in a sentence: “The Mexican girl in congress went to Miami to have a Homance”
ReplyDeleteDid she literally use " literally " 5 times?
ReplyDelete“Literally” is the new “you know”.
ReplyDeleteI mean, literally, you know.
DeleteMy local TV news people have started using the catch phrase "if you will". It started with one weatherman about a month ago and now I've noticed it's spreading. It's like literally driving me nuts, if you will. You know?
ReplyDeleteI think anyone who starts a statement with "So" and ends it with "Right?" should be rectally violated with a red hot, 2 foot rebar.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way with people who start a sentence with "I think", especially when it's not clear that they are, in fact, thinking.
DeleteCheers!.
Millies (Millenials) love to use "random" to connote anything out of the ordinary rather than something being truly random. I cringe every time.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite is: Plain and simple, ugh whatever they’re talking about will be neither plain nor simple…
ReplyDeleteIn terms of, I be like, dude, I know right? lol.
ReplyDeleteWhat gets me is shit like, you know used repeatedly in a conversation. Fucking asshole if I knew I wouldn't be wasting my time talking to you.

Don't forget "existential" (or as slow Joe says, expedential).
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how often the average idiot uses
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how often the average idiot uses "that's amazing".
At the end of the day, it is what it is, according to an unnamed source who is not authorized to comment.
ReplyDeleteLol, and keep on keep’n on.
Delete"Awesome" gained use exponentially through the past 20 years, to mean anything from "I agree" to "I have nothing more to add to this conversation". I'd like to know what word or phrase millennials use when they happen upon something they find truly awe-inspiring.
ReplyDeleteOther grossly overused phrases:
"Peace", "That's what she said", "Word", "legit", "derp".
