Travelers who spoke to KCRA 3 at the Sacramento Greyhound bus stop Friday night wondered why bag checks and passenger screenings are not part of the normal boarding process to get onto Greyhound buses.
"I expected a little more security,” Greyhound passenger Flynn Shaw said. “They didn't check my pockets or bags or anything."
"Please infringe upon my Rights and perform a warrantless search on me"
ReplyDeleteThey already do that on planes and trains, why not buses?
..and YES, I agree that what they do on planes and trains is in violation of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.
All this is unnecessary. Profiling works. Ask Israel.

jesus h.. some of our fellow citizens are too stupid to be allowed full franchise or unsupervised movement in public
ReplyDeleteGive em a body cavity search, for everyone safety....of course
ReplyDeleteLast time I was at the bus station in downtown Portlandia, they were x-raying luggage and putting people through a metal detector, but that was years ago. I assumed they were still doing it. Maybe just OR?

ReplyDeleteFrom the article: "Coleman was due for a court appearance this Friday, but it was rescheduled because he refused to leave his jail cell."
ReplyDeleteAllowing shit like that is your problem right there.
Wtf do they mean postponed because Dindu Nuffin refused to leave his cell? Can't give him a tune up in jail but can harass a motorist for a bs traffic violation?
ReplyDeleteA nut-case can do his damage in the bus terminal, on the sidewalk, or anywhere else he loses control. No need to wait until he's boarded the bus.
ReplyDeleteNo need to screen bus passengers for terrorists because a terrorist doesn't need to actually get on the bus to do his thing. He can just wait until the bus passes by. Even then, the terrorist won't accomplish his goal by blowing up poor people. Nobody cares.
As far as the airports are concerned, I think the real reason for screening is to catch people carrying drugs or cash, more than to stop any terrorist threat.

They don't do it because it's not worth it. Airline hijackings are uncommon, and always have been. Airport security is theater, it does NOTHING to actually prevent people from bringing bombs, guns, etc. on the planes, as repeated tests have shown. (9 out of 10 attempts to bring a gun on board a plane went undetected, as one study found)
ReplyDeleteGreyhound doesn't do it because it's not good for their bottom line - it doesn't improve actual security enough to be worth the trouble. IF they do it, it will be to improve their bottom line - i.e. to reassure people (primarily by inconveniencing them) that "something is being done." Just like airport security is today.
If they DO implement this idiocy, it says more about how stupid people are than about how violent people are.
