Sign me the fuck up!

Taylor Swift's impressive career and cultural impact is now being studied by students attending New York University's Clive Davis Institute.

The first-ever course - which already boasts a 'long waitlist' - launched on Sunday, January 26 and will continue through Wednesday, March 9, according to Variety.

  1. "Higher Education" is lost. Has been for quite some time.

  2. Figures. New York University, where they have never taught anything useful, ever. With the possible exception of how to become a good brain-dead communist. That seems to be their specialty.
And they do it all on the taxpayer's dime.

  3. I thought this was just a joke so I skimmed the linked article. I think part of my brain died.

    1. Probabiy not, and if it did, you'd likely be the last to know. :)

  4. Otherwise known as a "gut course", and I don't mean anything to do with nutrition. Like Astronomy 101, that was pretty hard to get into if you were late to the party. Basically, a no-show easy A, GPA booster.

    1. Where I went, Astronomy 101 wasn't a gut. Spent way more time on things like coordinate systems, time conversion, and the like than on the 'gee whiz' flashy stuff. (It was easy enough for me, but then, I'd already been an amateur astronomer for some time. Still am and I work in a company that makes equipment for it.)

  6. You have to admit - they hit all the buzz words -

    deconstruct
through the lens of gender, feminism, race, and class
    contextualize
    whiteness and power
analyses of the culture and politics of teen girlhood

These will come in handy as the graduate mixes up that double frapp-a-something with a caffeine shot.

    1. Sad to think that the nude pictures might be the high point of the course.

    2. Nude pictures of what? Or who? This was uninteresting until someone mentioned 'nude pictures'.

  8. At least this course offer the chance of one in 100 illion to actually obtian a paying job becoming an annoying 'singer'.

Reminds me of Madonna. I was still young enough when she was making her money, and I didn't know a single person who even knew a person who knew a person that bought her music or went to a concert. Who are these people that actually pay for this shit.

  9. Let me start by saying that college course 'curricula' around pop stars/actors are totally ridiculous. What I don't get, though, is the hatred toward acts like Taylor Swift or Nickelback. I'm not particularly a fan of either, but neither of them is as objectionable to me as,say, Madonna was back in the 80's & 90's, or any 'rap artist' you could name, ever. Maybe I'm just old and out of touch?

    2. And the fact she can't keep her mouth shut about her far left politics or veganism or...

    3. She is a better than passable dancer, though. She's only a problem when her lips move.

  10. $62,062 a year plus $19,682 for room and board to learn about Taylor Swift? Why didn't I send my kids there?
