Ah, the good old days. I checked to see how the inventory of primers is these days. Looked at Midway, Graf and Sportsman's Warehouse. There are none, of anything.
Don't know about that store but the best selection I have seen I a coulpe of years is at: SARGE'S SIDEARMS in Benson, Arizona! http://www.gunstores.net/about/About.aspx?d=db3eoi%20UuJo=&u=&g=&z=4rtVR2Lwn%20s=
It is *very super hard* to completely dehydrate ethyl alcohol. Rectified spirit, is (around, can't remember exactly) 95% ethyl by mass. Distill all you want, you will never remove that last 4-6% of water. That solution is a low-boiling azeotrope, a solution that boils at a temperature lower than either component alone. You can dry it quite a bit by adding a bit of benzene, but you really do not want to drink that. 3A molecular sieves work pretty well to get it down to about 10 - 100 ppm water. If you want to get it any "dry-er" you need to go completely full-out and expect to spend a good two to four weeks just trying to purify it. I've never done that. No need to, as you can generally use either methanol or propanol (or isopropyl alcohol), and do the same work. And either of those you can purify in just a few hours. -Just A Chemist
The Irish story has truth behind it. Classmate back in 1973 (74?) had a shock of white hair in her jet black mane. Genetic trait from her mother's side going back generations. While visiting Ireland she went to the ancestral village, walked into a pub and the bartender dropped a (thankfully empty) glass. "Good God! Ye've come back!" Seems her female ancestors who had The Mark were driven out of the village IN THE 1660s!!!
3) Cool! Where can I get one? The shirt, too.

#4 Technically, alcoholic beverages are solutions. Alcohol, itself, generally is not.
ReplyDelete[rocketride]
Generally a solution of alcohol and water.
DeleteSeldom is it 100% alcohol.

Technically, alcohol is an organic compound. Alcohol + water is a solution.
