A Student Sleuth Found Evidence that Our University Practices Reverse Racism. Here’s Why I Advised Him Not to Publish It

At the American university where I teach, one of my assigned tasks is to advise undergraduates—mostly freshmen and sophomores. This essay describes a conversation I had in 2017 with one of those advisees. I will call him Daniel.

Daniel was a sophomore at the time. He had been an advisee of mine for a year already, and I’d come to understand that he was a prodigy. I’d also formed a hypothesis, based on a certain bluntness and lack of social tact he exhibited, that Daniel might be on the autism/Asperger’s spectrum. He seemed weak on interpersonal skills and narrowly, even obsessively, focused on math and science. During his first year of university studies, Daniel had taken a number of upper-level math and physics courses that none of my other advisees had taken, and had earned flat As in almost all of them. His GPA probably would have been a perfect 4.0 if the university had allowed him to take only math and science courses. As it was, it was a 3.85.

At the end of his freshman year, Daniel applied for admission to a competitive honors program that our university runs, but he was rejected. He came to my office to discuss this—or, rather, to complain about it. I soon realized that he was not just disappointed; he was angry. Daniel believed he’d been treated unfairly. He believed he was the victim of reverse racism.

  1. There is no "reverse racism" there is only racism. If you discriminate against someone for being white, it is no different than if you were discriminating against someone for being black.

  2. Policies like this won't ever have an unintended blowback. Not at all. And no one will ever figure out the usual suspects are behind it.

    1. I thought it was interesting the student was one of those we don't speak of and at the first road block, he immediately went to scheming and dishonesty. Seems to be genetic.

  3. Ah yes...The old "ending racism by perpetuating racism" gag.

As with all "feel good, equity over equality" solutions" by pols and academics alike, it shows just how intellectually lazy they are....The most popular/simple/voter-attractive answers, like "do something/anything" .."throw more money at it" aren't at all innovative, and 99.99999999% of the time aren't solving anything. It just keeps them in the $, and requires no real effort, and noting any collateral damage is cause for cancellation.

  4. When the whole establishment is an affirmative action hire, pointing that out is less than helpful. Time to go outside the box in some manner.

  7. This has been going on for years as well as a political litmus test that will affect peoples ability to advance. Throw in fraternal good old boy networks and some people will never live up to there full potential. Young Daniel needed to hear the truth "Never put your future into the hands of anybody" start your own deal. Avoid institutions of higher learning unless it is to obtain tools and Knowledge need to do your own thing. Avoid politics it is full of con men and narcissist's they live by using there intellectual betters.

  8. I have hated reverse racism ever since I learned it existed. In this case, the professor was wrong in not at least telling the kid the truth, and then letting him make up his own mind. By not doing that, he took that decision away from him.
I know that it sounds all heroic for the kid to go ahead and fight against the big powerful people. But however romantic that sounds, he also has to balance the outcomes. In other words, is he willing to take what ever comes with it, if he decides to press forward with his complaint?
The Bible speaks of counting the cost before beginning to lay the first brick of a building. In much the same way, we should count the cost before making a decision that could affect our lives. It is often better to not do something and avoid making a mistake, than take a risk, and fall into the trap that is waiting for you that has been set ahead.

  9. "The morning after that election, Daniel had come to visit me in my office, deeply troubled by what a Trump presidency might mean for scientific research and funding."

Where I quit reading. Fuck you stupid liberal. You made that bed dumbass.

Meritocracy is a "racist" word now - thanks to libs and "equity".

Are they doing the same with engineers, brain surgeons or teachers of our children??

Talent and IQ are secondary? Kinda stupid ya think?

    1. I agree, Chillhill. Though I did read the entire article, my attitude about both of those liberal assholes changed with that one line.

  10. Daniel's advisor is a wimp. He let himself be destroyed by the woke, so he thought Daniel should be a wimp also.
Daniel is liberal asshole who supported the woke then let the woke establishment screw him. Now he is mad and will he probably go on to vote for Biden because asshole sheep are dumb. So, FJB.

    1. This Unz article is long, but well worth reading.

      https://www.unz.com/runz/american-pravda-racial-discrimination-at-harvard/

      Here’s an excerpt:
“Consider the ratio of the recent 2007–2011 enrollment of Asian students at Harvard relative to their estimated share of America’s recent NMS semifinalists, a reasonable proxy for the high-ability college-age population, and compare this result to the corresponding figure for whites. The Asian ratio is 63 percent, slightly above the white ratio of 61 percent, with both these figures being considerably below parity due to the substantial presence of under-represented racial minorities such as blacks and Hispanics, foreign students, and students of unreported race.
      [...]
However, if we separate out the Jewish students, their ratio turns out to be 435 percent, while the residual ratio for non-Jewish whites drops to just 28 percent, less than half of even the Asian figure. As a consequence, Asians appear under-represented relative to Jews by a factor of seven, while non-Jewish whites are by far the most under-represented group of all.”

This says that, relative to PSAT scores, Jews are admitted to Harvard over 4x more often than they “should be”. However, non-Jewish whites are admitted less than 1/3rd of what true merit-based admissions would expect. “Heritage Americans” are getting fucked harder than any other group. Not by BBC but by circumcised dick.

  14. It was sound liberal advise. Bury your head in the sand. A conservative would have said, fight it. Trump would have supported the person that excelled and been color blind.

  15. This type of thing is moving into STEM fields. Good luck finding a competent doctor in the future.
My company hired a AA engineer, he had to be supported at every point and didn't take oncall like the rest of us. I suggested to my boss that I'd be willing to put shoe polish on my face every morning if we could get rid of the AA brick. He was not amused.

  16. I feel badly for the kid in that he's had to learn a very hard lesson about life and people. Happens to most of us, kid. It would be interesting to know if he's also realized that being a close-minded liberal won't be his best course going forward. The professor is certainly a spineless wimp (shocking, I know) and bringing Trump into the mess is all I needed to know about that wuss.

Good God. Where do these Leftards get the idea that Donald Trump was against education. Fuck that Asperger Jew, and fuck his whole tribe.

    1. Scientific research and funding has little to do with education and more to do with an entire web of corruption from universities, spinoff companies and program managers in every executive department. Ironically, a lot of pork there.
