California DOJ Proposes Background Checks for Anyone That Buys Gun Parts

California will soon require every person who wishes to purchase a “firearm precursor part” to first undergo a background check process nearly identical to that which California currently uses for ammunition sales. The only problem is no one knows for certain what exactly is a “firearm precursor part.”

  1. Will this end up like their joke of Prop 65 where everything ends up needing a background check? A nail could be a firing pin! Pipe could be a receiver/barrel/shroud! Duct tape...need I say more? Wood could be carved into a stock! Darn near every piece of metal...Background checks all around!

  3. Another one that even the 9th Circus will overturn after 5-7 years, so that CA can build their "ghost gun" data base.

Oh, and let's forget that Buydem thinks hi-cap mags and the weapons that use them are for deer hunting. I suppose you could use them for that, however I believe they have another intended purpose.

  4. LOL. So A piece of sched-40 iron pipe with stencils is a precursor, but the pipe itself isn't?

Guess what? The mill does not care about the stencils.

  6. What you are seeing across America by the liberals is basic control being implemented the same way a python kills. A squeeze, take a breath, exhale, squeeze again, smaller breath, exhale, squeeze again tighter ect ect ect. You do realize they will only stop only if you have the will to kill them, anything less won't cut it.

  7. Oh, so you'd like a Timney trigger for your Winchester Model 70? That will have to be sold through your local Federal Firearms Licensee. And there will be a slight fee charged for that precursor part you're interested in buying.
And no, we're not infringing on your right to bear arms. We're protecting the public from YOU, Mr. Law Abiding Citizen!

Love, your friendly unelected bureaucrat at the California Department of Justice, who happens to be exempt from California gun laws and will still be in retirement.

  8. I'm sure they are vague so that they can later choose who to prosecute and who to ignore... Assume that the lighter your skin, the higher the likelihood of prosecution.

  9. Meanwhile in South Cackylacky, imagine my surprise when I renewed my CWP online the other day but there was no page to pay the fee. Suspicious, I called the issuing authority (SLED) and was told by the nice lady on the phone that there was "no charge". Certainly made my day.
