  1. That's awesome, I never would have thought to use one of those, but it works perfectly.

  2. Carry one in my purse. Works as a screw driver, pry bar & can be used as a weapon.

  6. Good advice. I also have a broken shell extractor in case of a case head separation.

  7. We, the not-so-clever, just use our cleaning rod that a competent soldier always carries.

    2. Yep.
I found a length appropriate sectioned brass rod (breaks down to mag height).
Avoids breaking the head from the case, too.

  8. Good for cleaning ear wax out and for getting that last bit of meat out of your lobster.

  9. Tbh, anytime something didn't extract, I would just smack the forward assist and it solved the issue. I suppose I'll put one of my extra paint openers in my go-bag. Although a dowel, cleaning rods, etc, also work, all depends on what one wants to carry.

  12. In early '67, we went out with newly issued M-16's. Made serious contact. Thanks to Mc's Discount Ammo Inc. jams occurred early on. Supply system being behind the curve, not everyone had a cleaning rod much less the opportunity to use one.
A 50-cent paint can opener is just another tool available. Doesn't have to suit everyone. It's tried & true by enough to be a serious option.
And there's always a chance you'll "Shine" if assigned to a paint detail.

  13. Plus, there's a handy bottle opener at the other end!
