Club and Knife Fighting WWII USMC Basic Training Hand To Hand Fighting Film

This 1940s black and white Marine Corps training film offers advice on close-range, hand-to-hand combat with tips on club and knife fighting. Training demonstrations on a Pacific coast beach aim to prepare servicement for battle on the beaches of Japan, ending in an encouragement to fight “dirty.” Note: This film is reflective of its wartime era and contains offensive racist language and dramatizations.

  1. a fair fight is one where I win. there are no rules, unless you in a stupid ring.
as a kid in the 1960's, I got books by fairbairn and applegate and others to study so I could save my ass from a beating. until they built the projects near our house, life was good.
afterwards not so much. and today it is a shithole around there.
also got a few pointers from mu uncle jack, he was a marine in ww2 with the 1st marine div.
and after pelaiu or whatever it called, he was send to train troops who went into Iwo Jima.
had a lot of chesty stories to tell as well and pictures of them at reunions and such.
he was a good guy all around. I do miss drinking beer with him on the front porch.

  2. so cool. I saw that video in boot camp. Didn't know it was that old. The instructor told everyone to survive, fight for you life, let the enemy die for his country, you fight to come home to your fucking girlfriend, there was nothing you were not allow to do except surrender or die. As for racist he referred to blacks in our platoon as night fighters because of their natural camouflage. Of course that afternoon we got try out what we learned that morning. Many a Marine had his balls kicked or crushed that day.

  3. A country boy 68 Parris Island. I was picked with others to do a demo for a Colonel with pugil sticks. At that time I hadn't lost a single encounter. I went up against a black guy. Due to watching cowboy movies I circled to get his face in the sun. I was ready to attack and alla sudden this guys face kind a glowed. A second of hesitation and I was nailed up side the head and down I went. The guy was from another platoon and I soon discovered he had three gold capped teeth with stars in each one. The DI's called him their three star general. Got my ass beat but learned a valuable lesson. Never got the chance but man I wanted another round with him.
