President Joe Biden is caught in the middle of the fray. So far he is siding with the Defense Department, saying there cannot be any kind of NATO no-fly zone over Ukraine fighting Russian aircraft because “that’s called World War III, okay? Let’s get it straight here, guys. We will not fight the third world war in Ukraine.”

Just because DOD, Biden, et al, don't WANT to fight WW3, doesn't mean we WON'T fight WW3. Germany wasn't too interested in fighting a first world war, but they honored their treaty with Austria-Hungary, and there we go. Neither Europe nor America wanted to fight WW2, but Hitler DID want a war, and there we go. I don't KNOW, but it seems Putin is very interested in fighting a war to reforge the Soviet Union. It may very well end up either trying to appease Putin, or go to war, not for Ukraine, but to stop the New Soviet Union. Putin says he only wants Donbass region. Well, first he only wanted the Crimea. Study the early run up to WW2. Hitler only wanted the land that France reacquired from Germany after WW1, then he only wanted the Sudetenland, then he only wanted Poland, then he only wanted Czechoslovakia, and the world was just composed of war mongers when they objected to Hitler's "just wants" and his Liebenstraum.
