We have had two Belgian Shepherds (both Tervuerens) over the years, and yes, untrained they ARE a handful.
On the plus side they were the easiest dogs to train that I have ever known. They WANT to work and to please you, and sometimes it wouldn't have taken much to convince me that I wasn't the smart one.
#2: I remember my brother spent half a day trying to dig up some roots before he realized he could hire some dude who could come in and do it in under 5 minutes.
#7: She has a lot of pain in her immediate future.
I was standing phone-talker watch on the bridge of a surfaced submarine back in the mid 70's. We were leaving Charleston SC and were doing 22 knots as we cleared the outer harbor. (I remember because I looked.) There is a standing wave called the bow wave, and our bow wave was breaking over the leading edge of the sail. There were several dolphins on our starboard side that were surfing in our bow wave. They were obviously having fun and were having no trouble keeping up with us. Indeed, every now and then, one of them wound dive forward and swing around in front of us , go down the port side, around our stern, and come back up on the starboard side to surf that same wave. In other words, they would swim circles around us. At 22 knots! (...or roughly 25 mph.)
I used to also listen to them on sonar. I was convinced they spoke a complex language. Years later, when I visited Italy for the first time, and got to hear native Italians speaking to each other, I smiled because it reminded me so much of those dolphins.

I am pretty sure I don't ever want a pissed off giraffe after me.
ReplyDelete#1 They're going to get in trouble for playing in the street.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you have to do to piss off a giraffe?
ReplyDeleteGiraffes are dicks.
DeleteWatching them fight each other by whacking necks is pretty funny though.

#2 Needs about seventeen more hydraulic hoses to be a real machine.
ReplyDeleteLmao. I thought it was a part of the Borg, with so many hoses.
