"Have at it, boys"

A Florida sheriff is drawing attention after encouraging homeowners to shoot intruders in order to save taxpayers money.

The comments came after a burglary spree in Pace, Florida, in which a man is accused of breaking into multiple homes and backyards as he ran from deputies, KTLA sister station WKRG reports.

  1. Honestly, if every crime from petty theft to home invasion carried with it a non-trivial chance of getting shot and killed (say anything over 1 out of 10), criminals will suddenly start re-thinking their actions. The crime rate would plummet. Serious ghetto hoods would still be dangerous and adopt a shoot first, steal second approach, but almost everyone else would simply decide to stop. Think of it as a social good rather than pity the dead criminals.

    1. Then we could talk seriously about defunding LEO & the more useless social programs and saving homeowners some major tax bills.
On a related note, this 'extra pulp' stuff I'm smoking here in Colo. is some good shit.

  3. (Old Tech) I still can't figure out why someone would break in to my place with the idea that their life is worth far less than any of the things I worked for. Plus, in the middle of the night, how do I tell the difference between someone who broke in to steal stuff and someone who broke in to try and kill me?

  4. In a discussion on home defense I said that you should be able to kill burglars with no legal repercussions. Someone said, "So you value your stuff more than their life". I replied that, "While that's true, it isn't the issue. The issue is that by breaking into my house they showed that they valued my stuff more than their own life."

    2. No, hand surgery yesterday. Which went well BTW. And I notice I didn't get redirected to a "Find the Swedish sniper" box. I'm still catching up.

    3. I'm still trying to figure out my comments. I can moderate a string then go back 10 minutes later and find 'new' comments that are time stamped earlier than the ones I just moderated.
Good luck on your recovery. I'm hoping there's no complications.
