When I was 12 and in seventh grade (1966), we had one kid in the class who was 17. But, I have to give him credit. He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he could have quit school at 16 if he had wanted to. Instead, he kept plugging along at it. He was also a nice guy. I used to help him with his math so he became a friend and my de facto bodyguard. I was a skinny geeky kid back then but nobody tried to bully me as long as he was around. He joined the Army after eighth grade. I lost track of him after that.
Oh, and we laugh at KY, but this could just as easily be Tennessee, or Arkansas, or Indiana, or even a place like Michigan.
#6 At the Walmart where I used to live, Spanish was just about the first language. I saw brownish shoplifters with merch stuffed up the back of their shirts walk past the nonagenerian greeter who took no notice whatever. Back when they had signs about the maximum number of items a cashier told me it was a firing offense to even ask about the number in a large order. No rules is no rules.
