    1. I once had a meat bee come in that way and he proceeded to fly up my pants leg while I was driving 60 mph in a loaded log truck. Good times.

    2. I remember them from back in the '70's. Mostly GM cars equipped with AC. Had a vent outlet under the steering column. Crotch Coolers.

    3. I had a 75 Malibu with those vents. It also had a swivel bucket seat, and got 12mpg in the city with the AC on. That R12 AC was no joke either, it could be 95 outside and not much warmer than a refrigerator inside the car.

That car also started when it was -43. It made a noise I had never heard before, and had to run 11 minutes before it would move, but it fired up.

When I finally gave it up it was ready to fall apart from all the rusting. Thing was a tank on wheels though, I miss the feeling of knowing that if someone drove into me going 10 mph that there wouldn't even be a dent on the bumper, as opposed to these days when such an action incurs $12,000 in damages.

  8. I was looking the 1830 censuses for Mississippi and Tennessee. They both listed people as this. Free White person, Free Person of color, Slave Male, Slave Female. I checked and found that many white people were indentured slaves paying off debts so they were considered by the U.S. government as owned so they were slaves.

    1. Two of my ancestors were involuntarily indentured to Virginia in 1750. Stealing, most likely. Do I demand reparations from the Crown, from the Virginia commonwealth, or from the subject who bought them for seven years? Or, maybe, "That was the law then, and you cannot apply a 21st century solution to an 18th century law."
