And a good time was had by all!

GALVESTON, Texas - What was meant to be a weekend of fun and excitement for jeep enthusiasts, soon turned dangerous after more than 100 people were arrested and left a Galveston County deputy seriously injured.

  1. I'm about 20 minutes down the highway from Galveston. Every year there are multiple big events there, several of which are more, shall we say, ethnic in nature. Social media has really fueled these events too. Where you might have several hundred people show up, now you have several thousand. Standing room only, roads are now parking lots, and regular folk stay as far away as possible.

My wife and I were there several weekends ago. I don't know what event it was, but we had decided to take our motorcycles for a ride down the beach and holy hell was it packed. Bumper to bumper, cars three deep in the sand on both sides with people parking everywhere and just milling around. We turned around and got the hell out of there ASAP. Went another 20 minutes down the beach and mucho better. Clear roads, only a few fishermen near the water, and clean driving.

Stay away from crowds. No joking.

  2. 79,900 people were not arrested. That would be a better headline.

  3. I misspent a good bit of my youth running around most of those beaches. Of course, on any given day to see another car on the beach was odd then.

  4. Bare boobs and beer in public. What could go wrong?

  5. I partied pretty hard late 70’s early 80’s. One of those nights I somehow made it to Crystal Beach after having drank a crap load of tequila. Still to this day I don’t remember how I got there. I can say after waking up on a beach not knowing where I was or how I got there definitely curbed my tequila drinking.
