Bernie Mack, 61, of Lawrenceville, was charged with two counts each of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

I worked with Bernie out at the Safeway Warehouse in California for 25 years.
He was a cheerful little fucker, always laughing and joking, a man who never showed one bit of aggression towards anybody that I can recall.
Only thing I can think of is he really, really didn't want to buy his wife a Mother's Day present.
Nobody knows which 'buttons' someone has and how to push them better than a girlfriend or wife. Sometimes they push them too hard and too often.
ReplyDeleteA slow simmering pot eventually comes to a boil. Look at mild mannered Travis "You talkin' to me" Bickle or William "I've passed the point of no return" Forster for instance. Maybe some pre-snap doses of Methaqualone might have prevented the violence.
ReplyDeleteWell, obviously. The wife isn't his mother. I made the same argument, unsuccessfully.
ReplyDeleteDid you know Marv Skundberg at the Safeway warehouse? I think he retired around '85.
ReplyDeleteNo. Up until 1991, Safeway had several warehouses scattered around the Bay Area and another one in Sacramento. In '91, they consolidated all of them at one complex outside of Tracy. That's the one I worked at.
DeleteYou actually worked with this guy? You should've taken him out! It would have save lives! :)
ReplyDeleteBernie was a good guy, well liked by everybody out there. This took everybody I'm still in contact with by complete surprise and total shock. I don't think I've ever seen him angry before.
DeleteWell, that explains the sirens on Thursday. And I think I've seen that guy at Sportsline before.
