NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Gun debate continues in Tennessee after the Texas school shooting that killed 19 children.
Over the years, there have been multiple attempts to arm teachers in schools. Most recently, Representative Ryan Williams introduced such legislation but later withdrew the bill.
Others feel that arming teachers would make schools more dangerous.
I'm a little undecided here, as pro-gun as I am. On one hand, having someone there immediately to respond makes the most sense. On the other hand, most teachers you hear about in the news are complete wingnuts. Do we really want the same teachers accused of grooming kids into trannies to also be packing heat? Even the normal teachers I know personally are still left of center.
And we'll also have to be able to handle the heat that'll surely come whenever some teacher loses their gun, misplaces it, drops it, accidental discharges, etc. and so forth. We read plenty of times about cops losing guns, now imagine losing it in a school.
I think a voluntary program that includes shall issue and proper training, would work. But there would still be accidents and issues. We just have to accept that those accidents are the price we're willing to pay to have someone there full time to return fire. And we have to harden our schools. For pete's sake, leaving a back door open and unlocked, after seeing someone shooting at the school? I hear they are keeping that teacher's name secret, for damn good reason too.
There's a shit-ton of Veterans out there who have faced real shooting shit and come home. Let's arm THEM and put them on patrol inside and outside schools. Then watch school shootings disappear.
Of course arming teachers is more dangerous! From what I've seen lately, they are the problem. I do not believe there are any right wing, conservative teachers anymore - all liberal leftists.
I call bullshit on that…. There are a few, maybe even plenty at least at the school I teach at and they include both male and female (very heartwarming) and both old and new. Of course we are in rural Eastern Oregon… a relative conservative place. But we are here.
There are ISDs in Texas that allow teachers and administrators to conceal carry. There has not been 1 incident at any of them. It's strictly voluntary and you must complete some training.
Sorry about this guys, but there are exceptions. Here at my N. Texas public high school, the policy is that any CCP holder may apply to carry on campus. Anonymously. I know at least a few who have so elected (there could easily be more), and I am damned glad they have. I agree with y'all about the big blue enclaves. NO ONE wants those leftards armed.
Here is a novel idea...Just force law enforcement to do what they are paid to do, and if they don't, fire them and then throw them in the slammer for aiding and abetting the criminals! Oh, and setting up perimeters while innocent people are being slaughtered is not what their job is; their job entails keeping the peace and saving innocents from harm, not just their own family members... irontomflint
Please explain why I should give a rat's left nut about how someone "feeeeeels" that arming teachers would be more dangerous than letting kids get shot by an unstable teenager. You can always spot the leftist urinalists when they talk about someone "feeling" rather than someone "thinking" something, or anything. I FEEL angry just wasting the 3 minutes I spent reading that drivel .
For leftist fuckwits who think arming teachers will make schools less safe, take a look at the schools that have armed teachers. How many school shootings have occurred at these schools? How many teachers were the shooters? None and none? Then sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up.
The main issue is that the left does not want shootings to end.

I for one am sick to death of 'public official' immunity, and to extend it to that private person sets a precedent I am also against.

DeleteIf you don't love what is going on in schools, why would you send your children to them?
