Oklahoma governor signs bill banning abortions after moment of conception into law

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt on Wednesday signed into law the nation’s strictest abortion ban, making the state the first in the nation to effectively end availability of the procedure.

State lawmakers approved the ban enforced by civil lawsuits rather than criminal prosecution, similar to a Texas law that was passed last year. The law takes effect immediately upon Stitt's signature and prohibits all abortions with few exceptions. Abortion providers have said they will stop performing the procedure as soon as the bill is signed.

  1. As an Oklahoman, I like some things that Stitt does and some things make me scratch my head. This is middle of the road for me. If someone needs / wants an abortion all they have to do is go one state east or west and obtain it. On the other hand, if it discourages more lefties from moving here...well done sir.

  3. If makers of firearms can be sued for the loss of life caused by use of their product, then this seems perfectly reasonable.

Roe v Wade seem to create a right out of thin air, so it seems logical to me abortion detractors should be free to use lawfare against provides the exact same way that anti-2nd lobby used lawfare.

They really don't like it when they have their own tactics turned against them.

  4. It'll be interesting to see how long it is before wet dreams are reclassified as Involuntary pre-manslaughter.
