Psaki: We had no idea Ukraine would sink that ship with the intel we provided

After the Ukrainians sank the Moskva, leaks from the intelligence community made it sound as if the Biden administration was doing an end-zone dance. This clearly didn’t sit well with the Russians, who have been issuing increasingly strident warnings about direct western participation in Ukraine’s defense. And the loss of one of their flagships was likely more of an embarrassing defeat than Putin cared to stomach. That’s why the White House was put off when major news outlets began running headlines saying it was our intelligence data that allowed Ukraine’s forces to send the Moskva down to Davey Jones’ locker. Yesterday, White House and Pentagon spokespeople were dispatched to spin the story differently, implying that the United States had no interest in what targets were attacked and the Ukrainians did it all on their own.

  2. I don't remember the exact timing of the quote, but I remember Churchill saying that the French had better informational security during peacetime than the Americans do in time of war.
It seems as if nothing has changed. I really look forward to when adults return to the White House.

  3. It's not just the two warships, it's also quite a few Russian generals that have been taken out selectively, thanks to position-pinpointing courtesy of Uncle Sam.

    1. incorrect. the russian comms are based on 4G cellphones. the ukranians just had the bright idea to tie a Stingray to a ballistic computer. the russian generals cell phone numbers are publicly available on linkedin. so they get "in-country", make a few calls, transmit their own coordinates and call in artillery on themselves.

  5. With of course the white house leaking the intel to the media: they want a war.

  6. Ukraine is defending itself against Nazi invaders. What would any reasonable person expect the Ukrainians to do with such intel?

    1. NAZI invaders? Who exactly are these invading NAZIs? The only NAZIs in Ukraine are the Azov people, who are officially part of the armed forces of Ukraine, and therefore under the command (nominally at least) of a Jewish head of state. Oh the irony. (Actually there is little irony. Apart from a few whackjobs, guess who talks the most about NAZIs and does everything possible to keep them in the public consciousness? It ain't Germans for damn sure, and it isn't "white supremacists" either.)

The Azov banner isn't an "N" with a vertical slash through it. It's the doppelsigrune with bad kerning. (Kerning, for those who don't know, refers to the spacing between letters -- it's a typography thing.) That "slashed N" is exactly the so-called "twin lightning bolts" of the SS, only pushed together.

    2. PS: In case the original comment was sarcastic irony -- whoosh. Went right over my head.

    3. I guess part of the problem with the internet is that its hard to tell if someone is being sarcastic or not. While I'm no fan of Putin, calling him a National Socialist is disingenuous. The Ukrainians have units that are proud National Socialists.

The west also does not have clean hands when it comes to the Ukraine. We supported the coup that toppled a democratically elected president in 2014. There's a good YouTube video from 6 years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMiSQAGOS4) that discusses this.

    4. The elite are absolutely intent on not just continuing, but escalating the war. Lot of money to embezzle when you've got your man at the switch sending it over. And those Ukrainian soldiers are very, very bad actors. I watched a video from a Frenchman this morning that spent 3 weeks there and is posting some damning videos about his experiences.

  11. I can't find the article now, but an investigative journalist wrote that the Markov is in the Baltic Sea and was not anywhere near the island as reported when it "sank".
    Another Ghost of Kiev story?

  12. Anyone that thinks we're not in a proxy war with Russia over this bullshit doesn't understand shit. We're sending them Billions (with a B) as well as tons of weapons on top of that. This is Russia/Afghanistan all over again.

  13. Ya'll ever wonder just how good of friends we would become with the russkie boys if they would just drop a single one on the district of cartoonistan and when the holier than thou group meet next at Davos. Man, they sure could save the entire whirled a lot of grief wouldn't they.
