I hope I meet the same greeting committee! Thanks, and remember all our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day with gratitude for their sacrifices that have ensured our liberty to this point.
In my case, it might be 2-3 dogs, and quite a few cats that my wife and I have had over the last 40 and more years. There are very few people that I miss more than I do the cats that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge over the years. Alas, I've come to realize that this this life is all we have. There is nothing but oblivion after we die; no Rainbow Bridge, no Heaven, no Hell. I'm fine with that, and I am glad that I've come off the road to spend my last days with my wonderful "starter" wife, going on 43 years of marriage. I miss working, but no more spending days, weeks and months away from home several hundred miles away.
I've programmed(I hope) my brain to give me a couple minute highlight reel before I cross over. I'm sure the archives have lots of B roll I've forgotten about and most of the best will be with my dogs.
My Sawyer ? - 26 May 2022, he found us at (the vet figured) 4 months old because his owner did want a gunshy big beautiful yellow Lab! He lived free of any chains or pens here in the woods chasing anything he wanted to and playing with us till he would drop down for a nap! He passed quietly and peacefully in our arms! The whole vets office sent a condolences card signed by every member of the clinic! His resting spot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BJGhJ0ky8jzAP04snsOaS32mq4zPyFhX/view?usp=drivesdk
Looking forward to their greeting, should be about ten pups and some cats that a grew fund of, I expect my wife will be standing there with her hands on her hips asking me why I took so long. I miss that woman.
they say that all dogs go to heaven, that's true and they wait there for you to love you the way they loved you on earth. the bad news is that all cows go to hell, and they wait there, and well you don't want to go to hell.

ReplyDeleteThat's a good thought, isn't it? It's almost enough to help a guy put up with all the bullshit he's got to put up with until he gets there.
One would certainly hope that in the hereafter all our beloved pets would be waiting for us.....
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the classic episode of "The Twilight Zone - The Hunt -"

ReplyDeleteThere is a special place in heaven for people who treat animals nicely....
ReplyDeleteMay it be so.
