I was in Quebec. A Harley and rough roads. All the ruts pot holes bouncing around my shifter came off. I didn't know this until I went to downshift for a little town I came to. Got to a garage in fourth and bought an old set and snapped them on. Rode that way about a hundred miles to the next Harley Shop.
The wife's dryer timer went bad and with the covid scamdemic lingering, I called my local appliance store to get a timer switch I could easily install. $159.95 with a min. of 6 months wait. So guess what our dryer timer looks like!
Hey Wirecutter, you should team up with 'ol Darrin at Vice Grip Garage. You guys could do a "uses for vice grips" gig...get some tool company to pay for it.

ReplyDeleteYes. But we need to remember this is Wirecutter 101 plumbing here, so the question remains; which side to put the red handle on?
DeleteFor probably 3 years I had a pair holding the accelerator cable on to the gas pedal on my old Nova

And also makes a great clutch lever on a Kaw ZX11.
DeleteThe vise grips cost more than the parts to fix it right.

That reminds me my good pair that still have teeth are currently residing on my plow truck's passenger-front brake line...
