We brought home an 8 year old Akita Tuesday and she's still running and jumping. Pretty much the same as Benny in the shelter, completely different dog now.
Even though she was scheduled to be put down Friday, the shelter was not sure they wanted to let us adopt her once they learned we had buried three dogs in the last year and a half. But when they found out that the one last year was 17, and the two 16 YO sisters died a week apart, they decided they could take a chance on us.
Whenever I wear a ballcap, she gets skittish. Our guess is she was abused by some evil bastard who wore a hat. Hope I never run into him...
Dust in the air. Great start to the day. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteStories like this help cancel out the depressing news of the shit show from the current headlines. Thanks!

I got a tear in my eye watching this one...
ReplyDeleteHe'll be happy to have a family to love & be loved by, but I think he was mostly just happy to be out of that damned Death Row.
