NYC tells the Supreme Court to fuck off

NEW YORK (AP) - New York's Democratic leaders aim to preserve as many restrictions as possible on carrying a handgun in public after the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday struck down key portions of the state's gun-licensing law.

State and New York City officials are zeroing in on specifying "sensitive locations" where concealed weapons could be forbidden, including a concept that would essentially extend those zones to the entire metropolis. Other options under consideration include adding new conditions to get a handgun permit, such as requiring weapons training.

  3. You couldn't pay me to go to what was once, "my city"...and now the chocolate mayor, former top cop is trying to make NYC an entire no carry zone...well, except for the bad guys, different rules apply...I don't have an issue with requiring a weapons training course prior to getting a handgun permit, except, in NYC, that alone could take years! 20 years ago a buddy of mine bought a gun in Connecticut, and then went through the proper channels to transfer the gun to where he lived in Jersey...that took 18 fuckin months!

    1. I do take exception to having to take a training course. What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" don't you understand? Squishy "Yes, but..." is how conservatives have folded on gun rights since 1934.

You only need 6 rounds. You only need it for hunting. You only need it to protect yourself at home. You only need training before you're allowed to buy...

Bullshit. The right, given to us by GOD, to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. What part of that is so fucking hard for people even supposedly on our side to understand.

And if you support restrictions on knives or brass knuckles, guess what, you're an asshat. Because those are arms also.

    2. I want firearms training to be mandatory. Must be completed by age ten or the school receives zero funding.
Hell, I'd be willing to go so far as to require proof of range time to vote as well as membership in a militia.

  4. I actually WANT NY to do this. They haven't read the decision, and we could use some more case law that favors us. Here is a direct quote from the decision:
"That said, respondents’ attempt to characterize New York’s proper-cause requirement as a “sensitive-place” law lacks merit because there is no historical basis for New York to effectively declare the island of Manhattan a “sensitive place” simply because it is crowded"

  7. This opens the door for pushback for the red rural parts of NY. The restrictions are unlawful and we now have court confirming it. Any attempt by the orcs to enforce this in the red areas can be met with a civil suit for damages against every state "authority." Trial would be held in the local red area with a local red jury who can bankrupt these pukes. Won't change NYC until the current crowd of anti-americans are driven from power but it can make them reluctant to mess around outside NYC.

  9. Does anyone want to know how stupid the Sullivan Act was? That’s the concealed handgun law that has been on the books since 1903. You could buy a machine gun and walk around with it and not break any law, but God forbid you had a handgun.
