    That's accurate, most hunting rifles shoot a high power .30 caliber cartridge, most "assault rifles" shoot a wimpy little .22 bullet.

      Exactly. So-called “assault” rifles (so called because such a thing is not properly defined) were designed to maim, cause severe injury, but not kill. Sure, they kill plenty, but the design is to cause a scream causality. His buddy will ALSO stop fighting to render aid. A hunting rifle, however, is designed for a fast kill at far beyond 100 yards.
