Pride Is Still a Sin and the Rainbow Still Belongs to God
We’re now two days into “Pride Month” and everywhere we look, we’re assaulted by rainbows and declarations of pride in homosexuality and various and sundry perversions. My inbox is full of press releases from woke companies and organizations signaling their virtue for the month of June, and my Facebook feed is full of them as well. (In one sense it’s a good thing because now I know which companies do not support values that encourage human flourishing.)

ReplyDeleteOver my lifetime I've known a number of gay folks. Some were just folks who just happened to be attracted to folks of the same sex and were in long term relationships more stable than mine. Others, be they gay, trans or what ever seemed to have a palpable unhappiness to them. I've got no issue with anyone having every right guaranteed by the constitution but as I get older I understand that there are things you dont need to throw in other folks faces. In polite society, we've always known that "william and lester" are probably more than roommates and I have no more desire to know the details of their personal life than I care to hear about bill and Sue's. Taking pride in your sexual orientation as opposed to your accomplishments?
ReplyDeleteTotally irrelevant aside. Some folks have stereotype ideas of what gay folks should be like. One day I walked up behind one of my staff who was pointing out to one of our new young ladies who all the gay guys in the department were. She was incredulous when one man was pointed out, she said "he cant be, he's old and dumpy like Joe"

DeleteYup, If I walked down the street with a sign saying, I'm Heterosexual, they would probably put me in the loony bin. Or I'd be stoned one. However, heterosexuals don't do stuff like that because it's private. I like the term, Polite Society. Also, your sexual orientation is more important than your accomplishment? In short, I liked what you said.
