Tesia White, 25, of Gainesville, Missouri, was arrested on Thursday afternoon in New Smyrna Beach, which is northeast of Orlando.
A 4-year-old Golendoodle, 2-year-old Boxer, and two 12-week-old Goldendoodle puppies were in the vehicle and died, according to police records.
*****
She left the vehicle running with the AC on, even the cops say that, and she did come back once to check on them and they were fine. It's not like she just left them in the car and not giving a shit about them.
There must not be any real crime in New Smyrna Beach....
ReplyDeleteThe dogs didn't shut the AC off. Many newer cars have a shut down sequence that has to be overridden otherwise the vehicle shuts down after a certain period or if the battery level falls below a certain level. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteNow do police K9s that have been left to die in the squad car...
ReplyDeleteAnd, as a follow-up, what happened to the handlers that killed their partner?
Inquiring minds and all that...
The Officer Down Memorial Page (www.odmp.org) tracks K9 as well as human cop deaths. I just scrolled through the 200 most recent police dog deaths, which stretch back to September 2014. Of those 200, 51 were from heatstroke. I didn't read the details of every heatstroke death, but every one I did read involved being left in their handlers vehicle.
DeleteOk, who the fuck puts 4 dogs in a car and then goes to lunch in a restaurant? I mean, maybe no ill intent, but WTF? I've had dogs all my life and never had a situation where I had to leave them in a car for more than 5 minutes. (Same with babies, BTW).
ReplyDeleteI once had to drive pretty much cross country with a dog in my single cab truck. Every single meal was fast food or take out, eaten in the truck with the dog beside me. You don't have to go in a restaurant and sit down to have lunch, not with 4 dogs in the car.
This is right up there with that cop who spent all day in a training class with his police dog dead in the cruiser (that was not rated for K-9 duty). Why in the hell would you take the dog to an all day training class if you knew you couldn't take him in the room with you?
No excuse.
I routinely leave that asshole dog Jack in the truck for 15-20 minutes at a time when the weather's cool enough, below 75 degrees. With all 4 windows down a couple 3 inches, it's more than cool enough for him inside.
DeleteWow, she had the AC on, checked on them. How would that be criminal? I get the emotional side of it but still......
ReplyDeleteDepends on the vehicle. I mean, if it was less than 3 or 4 years old, in good shape, that's one thing. If it was a 17 year old POS, that's another. I wouldn't leave mine in a vehicle for more than 15 minutes, with the windows at least half way down, unless it was after dark, or the temp was below 75. If I had to go somewhere where I'd be out of the vehicle for more than that, she stays home, with a doggy door and AC. Her job is guarding the house when I'm not home, anyway.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I use. Never had an issue. https://mywaggle.com/
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the jury has common sense and finds her innocent.
ReplyDeleteNah, fuck that bitch. Those dogs died probably the most horrible death I could imagine, cooked alive. She needs jail. Just for being that fucking stupid. I'd say the same for a person who left a kid in the car, too. Their life is 100% in your hands. You need to be up to the task.
DeleteI'm sure she loved her pups and realizes she screwed up big time. She will punish herself far more than any Judge and Jury could punish her.
ReplyDeleteI have always hated that feature that shuts off the A/C when the engine gets too hot, and an idling car in the sun is very apt to overheat after that much time. But, I'm with Kenny. I never knew about that feature until my A/C shut itself off on a very hot day in very bad traffic. Just when you need it the very most, boom, no A/C.
ReplyDeleteShe probably had NO idea that would happen. Maybe more men would have had an idea, but not as many more as would once have been the case, We are devolving quickly with all this mechanized comfort and convenience added in to our endocrine disrupting lab food.
And how many wouldn't have cracked the windows and relied on the A/C alone, not circulating fresh air, but recirculating the air in the car, with the ludicrously wimpy engine fans that cut in and out over and over and over, and not enough air flow because the car is stopped. What a miserable mess! RIP pups. --nines
Ignorance of the car is no excuse. Why would you pile four dogs into a car to go to lunch in hot weather?
ReplyDeleteIf she left her car running with the AC on, wouldn't she think maybe someone would try to steal it (I know it's almost impossible with today's vehicles)? They could drive it for a few hundred yards anyway.
She needs to be spanked really hard, but not prosecuted.
I once stopped at a store--literally run in, grab the item, pay and leave. I left the windows of the car down because I had my 2 dogs with me. When I came out of the store, I saw a bunch of kids on bikes and one of my dogs running around with them. One kid came up and asked if it was my dog. I told him yes and he said what a great dog! Rustman always liked kids and when he saw them ride their bikes around the parking lot, he jumped out of the window to join them. I walked up to the group, said "get back in the car" to the dog, he jumped back thru the window and we went home. After that, when he was with me, I had to remind him to stay in the car.
