The official instructional video, filmed in June 2021 and quietly posted online last month to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), opens with Naval Undersea Warfare Center engineer Jony Rozon introducing himself and notifying the viewer that he uses “he/him” pronouns. His fellow host, engineer Conchy Vasquez, then says she uses “she/her” pronouns.

You know, I'm proud of the fact that I served my Nation. I wonder if the members of today's military are going to feel the same way 40 years after they get out?
But can they fight if called upon to do so?
ReplyDeleteIm a Navy vet. Served on a SSN in the early 80s."I can’t imagine people like that serving on the boat I was on. We are so F****d.
ReplyDeleteWirecutter will let you say "fuck" on his site.....
DeleteNavy vet also. I served on an SS back in the 70's. I feel your pain even more.
DeleteYeah it’s habit. This isn’t the only blog I comment on.
DeleteKlaus.
When the Chinese or Russian navies start sending our ships to the bottom, it will be comforting to know that proper pronouns were used at all times.
ReplyDeleteThe Navy already has 'inclusive' language...your rank/rating followed by your last name. Direct exclusive reference that is already a standard form of address. "Chief DeForest" is far better than "he/she/they" in any military conversation.
ReplyDeleteThe left considers "Chief" to be a racist title now.
DeleteWhat the fuck has been done to my Navy?
DeleteBut I'll play along (A little.) My choice of pronoun is "asshole" because it's gender neutral.
I served on an oiler from 63 to 65, people like this wouldn't have done well
ReplyDeleteSo I'm guessing that the term "Pier Queer" is out?
ReplyDeleteI served with pride, the right kind not the crap that will get people killed because they are too busy learning pronouns. They should be training to win a war!

ReplyDeleteThe Navy once wanted to use this in their recruitment advertising until they found out the Billage People were queer,
Navy motto : when the ships underway gays okay. LOL
DeleteIn my Navy days (1967-1963) No women served on any active military vessel and any homosexual discovered aboard was immediately sent ashore.
ReplyDeleteToday's Navy resembles nothing like the Navy I served in over 50 years ago.
ReplyDeleteNemo
I think they will, but they'll refer to it as therving their country.
ReplyDeleteI can't even think how pussified Crossing the Line is these days.
ReplyDeleteI got the kungflu back in December - no jabs - and it was pretty bad. The only time that I can remember being sicker is when I got the Hong Kong flu, back in the Pleistocene. BTW, that's the one they try to conveniently gloss over, despite it killing over 4 million people.
ReplyDeleteThe new navy motto is "It's not gay when underway"

When Biden lights up WWIII over Ukraine the Ruskies won't know what hit them.
