"We don't go for that shit around here"

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — As recent mass shootings spark conversations about gun violence across the United States, one Tennessee sheriff has a message for the "bad guys."

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris says Student Resource Deputies have been highly trained in the event of an active shooter and won't hesitate to run towards a threat.

"If you are a bad guy and come into our schools with a gun, or any other kind of weapon, with the intention of causing harm to our faculty or children, our Deputies will eliminate you immediately," Sheriff Farris said.

    2. No, not trying to upstage. More like standing shoulder to shoulder with Sheriff Judd. we need more like this. It's not a competition.

  3. We need more sheriffs and police chiefs like that. It makes the whole project seem like less fun to a potential perp.

We could use more teachers taking a harder line. Less of the, "I could never harm one of my students" and more of, "Sure. If one of my students is shooting up the school, then I'd tap him twice in the chest and one in the head. I like the rest of my students more than I like the shooter"

It doesn't even have to be very true, just enough to plant some doubt.

  4. Words and training is one thing, how they actually do in an emergency is another.

  5. As an American, I believe that part of my duty is to protect other Americans who are weaker from harm, when I am able. That seems to have been the soul reason for the entire being of the U.S. Marine Corps, and it has not let them down once, so if it is good enough for them, since 1775, then it is good enough for me.
I am not nor have I ever been a Marine, but it is a goal that one could do much worse than to aim for. In fact, any of the U.S. military is a good example to follow for a civilian. Discipline and courage are never a bad thing. And defending those who cannot defend themselves is the entire reason that we have a military.
No matter what kind of pussies the leadership is, the men and women who make up the point of the spear have my thanks and respect. And when I say women, it is not by accident. Some women have given their lives, but all who serve have given just as much as those who have carried a weapon. And every single person who puts on the uniform, no matter in what capacity, has my respect and gratitude, for helping to protect my freedom-period. May God remember them when they leave this spinning top.
