House passes active shooter alert bill

The House on Thursday passed a bill 260-169 that would allow law enforcement to deploy an Amber alert-like phone notification system in active shooter situations.

Forty-three Republicans joined Democrats in voting for the bill, and one Democrat, Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis., who is not running for reelection, voted against it.

That's so regular citizens can grab their guns and go do the job that cops either won't do because of procedure/lack of leadership/cowardness, or can't do because the fucking liberals have defunded their departments.
That was sarcasm, people.

  1. lets see what it says. it may not provide any such notification, and be mere virtue sniveling. the devil, as always, is in the details.

  2. FedGov has no authority to legislate in this area or about 98% of the other stuff they legislate in.

  4. The bill "allows" po-leece to issue alerts, because...
The bill is as Constitutional as federal laws on "violence against women" and "hate crimes."

  5. I see trouble here as in, sleepless nights. As it's FedGov issuing the alerts I suppose they *might go with their existing 'Emergency Broadcast System'? Issue 'alerts' nation wide?

Should they do that can you imagine how, whenever Chicago gets to its 'dark hours' it's gonna be possible to sleep with a cellphone in the 'on' condition?

  7. When I bought my phone one of the very first things I did was turn OFF notifications. I live in KY. I don't need to know about an Amber Alert in Chicago or Detroit, or Louisville even.

(The second thing I did was turn OFF autocorrect. Autocorrect is a product of the devil. Whomever invented it will probably burn in hello.)

  9. Haven't read the text of the bill.....but odds are good that since it's being pushed by the Demonrats there will be a buttload of extra crap added to the bill that we will not like.
