They're going to hell for that

BLOUNT CO., Tenn. (WVLT) -Three people were arrested after they were caught cutting a catalytic converter from a van in a church parking lot, according to Blount County Sheriff James Berrong.

Shortly after midnight, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a church located on Calderwood Highway to the report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, a deputy saw a small red sedan in the back parking lot. Once he got closer, the deputy reportedly spotted a man and woman standing near the church van, with another man underneath.

  1. I still don't get the whole cat thing. I replaced mine because it was broken and causing an obstruction. It cost me a whole whopping $45 for a brand new universal one. Guy at the parts store I bought it from said there is nothing special inside other than a ceramic honeycomb that stores heat and burns everything to to crisp. No precious metals.

    1. I guess it depends on year, make and model of your vehicle as well as your state's emission standards. I know that most of them do have precious metals in them.

    2. Catalytic converter gone bad? Just use a broom handle to shove some steel wool up the tail pipe. It worked for me back in 1960 when the cops said my muffler was too loud.

  2. We moved to my wife's home town of Maryville, Blount County back in '04 after Gwinnett County, Ga had become overly diverse. Best place I ever lived. I heard lately that Maryville has become woke.

    1. I live in Blount County also and yes, Maryville is going woke, courtesy of the city mayor and his cronies by rapid overdevelopment with residential housing, unwanted Amazon warehouses and an extremely leftist local paper. Maryville and a nice, small town feel for years but now, that's all gone.

  4. The only mine in the US producing platinum and palladium for catalytic converters is on the other side of the Absaroka mountains from Yellowstone NP. Their refining facility in Columbus, Montana also recycles the metals from old converters. The recent flooding in the area has shut down the mind for the last few weeks because the road was cut in at least two places.
