Reminds me of a guy I knew that had visited factories in China describing how they had three people operating each lathe. One of them held and aimed the coolant hose.
6 & 10: My Housecat is a bug eradicator- I once saw him snatch a mosquito in mid-flight. When available, he will also eat spiders. https://youtu.be/ruTB5jBGXsE?t=119
My dog trots beside the tractor when I bush hog. I think she catches and eats more grasshoppers than the cattle egrets. When it starts to cool and crickets venture inside they don't last long. Protein mon.
#10--When I was a practicing veterinarian I had a guy call up and wanted me to "defang" his pet tarantula because he was afraid of it biting him. I had to explain, 1), In vet school we are honestly taught how to kill arachnids, not do surgery on them, 2) Since they don't breathe, per se (They have spiracles, not lungs) it would be VERY risky to use gaseous anesthesia on it, 3) I don't know how to monitor a spider's vitals since they really don't have vitals and 4) if I "defanged" his spider it would very quickly starve to death since they eat by liquefying their prey with venom and then sucking up the predigested goo. I also told him that most tarantulas have a venom that is about as bad as a wasp sting and if he didn't startle the thing and kept it fed it would probably be fairly docile. He said"...Oh, okay. I didn't know that..." and hung up. I'd still never have one as a 'pet'. Brrrrr.

ReplyDelete#7 - Read about a gal who lifted a frozen turkey that way, then outran the security guard who tried to stop her.
ReplyDelete#6. Alaska mosquitos?
ReplyDelete#3 is a very cute girl. Too bad she's crazy--but then, they all are, one way or another. At least my girl cheerfully admits it.
