  2. These days I suspicious of all these incidents at critical infrastructure.... but this plant is owned by BP. Given their track record on inspection and maintenance its likely its just a fure aused by their usual stupidity.

  4. One refinery out, suddenly a shortage. All other refineries deferring maintenance shutdowns because they're running flat out. On the supply side, cancellation of Federal Lease programs to decrease the amount of oil & gas exploration taking place. On the demand side, shortages and out-of-control prices.

Now: Would you say our policy makers have their thinking caps on? Is their thinking up to scratch? Are they serving the people they report to and work for?

  5. Hmm,BP, They TOLD the petroleum engineers to pull the heavy drilling fluid out of the well in the Gulf. The first couple said no and were replaced. The heavy fluids were necessary to keep the gasses in the formation from being able to invade the well bore. A gas bubble the size of your fist deep down and under the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid column that invades the bore and rises to the surface gets really big by the time it reaches the surface. That displaces fluid, lowering the amount of pressure that column of fluid holds against the pressure of the gasses in the formation, and more gas bubbles enter the well bore and climb to the surface, blowing more fluid out,,
This is the beginning of a BlowOut.
Stupidity stops being cover for sabotage after a while.

  6. It will be a shortage for me. Whiting, IN is the only refinery that makes a custom blend used in the Chicago area.

  7. As I recall, this is about the 6th largest refinery in the US.
More emergencies before the next stolen elections. Hmmm.

  11. All part of Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.
Luckily the increase in food prices and electricity are keeping pace with their plan.
