ReplyDeleteI disagree. China is truly a paper tiger when it comes to national defense. I've got some "Friends" in special forces (a Ranger training camp is located here where I live) and they tell me while China has thrown a lot of money into their military, their products are substandard and their training sucks. I tend to listen to what these guys have to say whenever we're talking military stuff.
ReplyDeleteThey have yet to win a war against anyone except Tibet. They broke even with the two 'skirmishes' against the USSR. They lost big time against Vietnam, losing more troops in one year than we lost the whole time.

And they make, or Taiwan makes, which is essentially the same thing from a logistics and risk standpoint, the chips that run the guidance systems for our missiles. China doesn't even have to attack us to cripple us. They just have to cut us off. Paper tiger or no, a quadrillion tons of paper will crush any eagle, not to mention if a pissed off giant bear is helping that paper along. Even if we miraculously win a war with China and Russia (and possibly others) we'll never recover. It will bleed us dry, and destroy anything that's left of our national unity. But yeah. A good friend is retired and has contacts involved in Ukraine. Our anti tank equipment is playing hell on the Russian armor. Russia doesn't train their enlisted on land navigation for fear of them deserting. Company and battalion commanders are easy to spot and target. Their officer corps is becoming officer corpses.

We talk geopolitics all the time and most are now high ranking and were in Iraq early on before people even knew we were going over there so they're very well versed in what our military is capable of and what our adversaries are capable of (or not). Nonetheless in my 57 years on earth, I've learned people that think like you are generally criminals hence you disdain for LEO's. As for your comments about the military in China, From first hand military people CURRENTLY serving, you don't know what the heck your talking about. And they gave me the go ahead to make that blanket statement.
I remember a few years ago when a new Chinese warship burst into flames and sank while it was in port. People were throwing around conspiracy theories about sabotage and spies in play, and all I could think was "Why is anyone surprised? That thing was made in China."
