A South Carolina woman was killed Wednesday afternoon after being accidentally impaled by a beach umbrella, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

It seems that the manufacturers of umbrellas should use a blunt tip instead of a point. It would not impair the function, and it would improve ther safety.
