Vietnam - For MAT Teams It Was A Very Lonely War

MAT Teams or Mobile Advisory Teams were a little known element of the Vietnam War.  The first teams were organized in 1967.  This is the story of my tour as an Infantry 1LT serving as the assistant team leader of MAT 111 based at  Dong Xoai village, Phuoc Long Province, III  Corps  in 1971 as the war was winding down.

  1. Thanks for keeping them coming, Kenny. They help me very, very much. I know they were all young and dumb and mostly avid to blast bad guys to kingdom come, AND so many of them were drafted, but, still, I love those guys SO much and still cry over all the names on that memorial in DC.

It feels as though we're darn short of those kind of young men nowadays, when we are needing them SO badly. Such a depressing thought. Not enough gratitude to go around anymore, I guess.
