Catalytic converter thefts creating shortage of replacement parts

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Catalytic converter thefts haven’t slowed down in Nashville and across the country and some car repair shops said the thefts are leading to a shortage of parts.

According to State Farm Insurance, Tennessee ranked 17th in the country when it comes to catalytic converter thefts.

“It was bad there for a while and then it slowed down for a little bit and now it’s probably worse than it was even before,” William Vaughn with Midas Service Center on Charlotte Pike said.

  1. The thefts are sanctioned by the Green/Democrat regime because EVs don't need them. So many people will go the electric route to avoid being victims.

  3. The problem is they are trying to replace them with new parts. If they would replace them with used catalytic converter, they would probably get the neighbors in a couple days.

  4. 2020 vs 2021 theft numbers, 4,500 vs 18,000. Thank you Joe Biden.

  5. Here comes Democrat legislation to require car makers to add a "Check Catalytic Converter" light on the dash. Probably by Friday.

  6. Where I work, we have 2 large 4700+ HP Cat engines, both with catalysts that we get about 10000 run hours out of. 2 years ago, catalysts cost $55,000 a set, I am going to guess when they need replaced next year, it will be at least 4 times the price, if we can get them
