I used to go duck hunting with a guy that had two labs. The only time they ever saw me was when I drove over to pick him up to go hunting. When they saw me, they got tremendously excited and happy. Dead ducks and geese in wet marshes.
after watching something like this, I very much believe dogs are better than most people we will ever met. spending time with a dog is good for your soul. and something like this makes me miss that old silly dog of mine. 12 years was not enough time. he got really silly playing in the snow. and then I had to make him come in, and he lay in front of the wood stove until he warmed up and then he wanted to go play in it again just a big old silly dog playin..
My black lab was terrified of water. Absolutely terrified. We lived near the beach so it was natural to go walk on the beach. He would so much as put one paw on the beach.
Then one day we were traveling and stopped for a break. We walked down a trail to a beach. He froze at the sight.
I figured we gotta get past this so I continued walking down the beach, not waiting or coaxing him and not looking back. All he saw was me walking away. Then I stood throwing sticks into the water. I noticed him slyly creeping forward.
The ocean was flat as a mill pond that day. After throwing about fifty sticks, I was unpleasantly surprised as ge shot past me into the water to fetch. After that it was game on.
Nothing would keep him out of the water. He became a water monster. Huge waves would not dissuade him.
That's Stevie The Wonder dog, he's not blind. He has some kind of neurological disorder.

"There's nothing friendlier than a muddy dog."
ReplyDeleteGod bless a good, faithful dog. Can’t beat them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a black lab that must be broken, because she won't even go outside if it's raining, she hates water.
