Son there are a couple things you don't even think of fucking with. One thing and the most important is my wife. She may be mother to you but she is my woman. Don't ever let that slip your mind boy.
A man I worked with long ago told me that when they were teenagers his brother had a quarrel with their mother at home. The brother swung to slap her but their dad caught his wrist and slung him backwards against a wall, leaving a dent in the sheetrock. As the brother tried to clear his head their dad told him, "If you EVER raise your hand to MY WIFE again I'll kill you."
When my older brother (we will call him S) came back from Vietnam, he was disturbed somewhat. He got in a fight with my father over some BS. We had been replacing windows and my dad hit S with a piece of lumber hard enough to break the lumber in half and for dad to get to his bed room. My younger brother and I followed him and dad positioned himself in the farthest corner of the room with a pistol. My younger brother and I managed to grab S and prevent him from entering the room. He would have been shot, no doubt. Things got better over time and their relationship recovered some years later.
A lot of people don't realize that a glass bottle can be a deadly weapon if you hit someone over the head with it. I blame the movies for this misconception. How many films - especially old westerns - show someone breaking a bottle over another person's head, and that person gets back up with only a minor headache?
The reality is quite different. Movie-prop bottles are designed to break with very little force. Real glass bottles, you can almost drive a nail with.
When I was a teenager, a friend of mine's father was killed in a barroom brawl because someone thought it was okay to break a beer bottle over his head. It caved in his skull and he was killed instantly. The other guy went to prison.
Even though I don't know the folks involved, I'm sorry this happened though I think the father was justified. He will still have to live with the fact that he killed his own son. However, if I was on the grand jury, unless there is more to this story than what is reported, it would be a slam dunk for no bill.
More family fight fun. When I was a wee lad the Polish family down the street was more like white trash. Once, their son was standing in the kitchen holding a half gallon carton of milk. He said something fly to his mother and her slap knocked him on his rear on the kitchen floor. Problem is, in the split second that his beef-witted brain could fire a couple synapses, he thought, "I'll dump this milk and show mom what a mess she made by hitting me!" Of course he was a bad actor and dumped the milk out of his hand a little too slowly and it was obvious. I beat feet and didn't go back to their house for a while lol.

I copped a wine bottle to the head in a fight about 40 years ago and it fucked me up. I saw cross-eyed for 2 days.
