  1. #9 Kind of reminds me of the 'queens guard' critters in The Great Wall movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4m15WAC5khw

    1. #9 - Our neighbor has 11 of them. They're only loud during mating season and lose their tail feathers after that's done as well.

  2. #10 Filter still in the plastic? Wonder how much damage that caused.

    1. I would expect that the engine just wouldn't start so damage wouldn't be a problem.

    2. I'm sure it wouldn't. You need fuel, air and spark for an engine to run.

    3. On the other hand, you never have to replace the filter.

    4. Saw on a YouTube channel a guy changed his oil & filter but didn't take the plastic off the oil filter, destroyed the engine.

  3. Boy to have the firewood picker upper, cutter, splitter would be handy as all get out. Boy you do get more practical as you age…

  4. #7 I'd keep those cans empty, and add a "diving board" mousetrap to it. your mouse problem will be over quick.

    1. It may be efficient, but, at what cost?

  8. #1: one of those modern European "let's go green and cut down our forests to generate electricity" thingies?

    1. Looking at that device I was thinking that the American pioneers would have killed for such a labor saving machine.

    2. If I remember correctly, European forests were laid waste until the advent of oil and gas.

    3. I read somewhere a while back that there's only one patch of virgin forest left in all of Europe and it's in Poland.

    4. Here in UK we pay somebody in USA to chop down your forests, turn it into little chips, heat it and dry it, ship it to coast, then onto big ships for transport to UK. Then it is offloaded into trains for transport to a power station where it is mixed with coal, burned to produce steam to produce "green electricity". This is called saving the Planet and gets big subsidies.
Shale oil saved the whales. Once oil for lamps and lubrication could be evaporated out of hydrocarbon rich shale all that Moby Dick stuff could not compete and stopped. How green was that? Search, read about James "paraffin" Young.

    5. Hey Doonhamer, here in the United States, we former subjects of the British Empire grow RENEWABLE forests bigger than your entire little island that we manage and harvest using conservation minded methods, turn into little chips and ship it over to you lot in Europe who weren't smart enough to keep from getting into bed with Russia for much of your energy supply so you don't freeze in the dark. You're welcome.

    6. Anonymous @ 11:44, American forests were laid waste after that. Large areas of forest in the greater Appalachians were denuded in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. There are areas of eastern Tennessee that were moonscapes 80 years ago, and are only now becoming forests again, but not what they were. Erosion, and tailings from mining sped the process, once the trees were gone. Do an image search for 'Copperhill, TN', for instance; & it was much wider.

    Parenting was simpler then..
