Swiss citizens overheating their houses could face hefty fines & 3 years in jail

After the Swiss and Finns joined the Germans, Austrians, and Swedes in bailing out there energy providers, who are facing trillions in margin calls; new legislation covering Switzerland’s energy supply will make heating homes to more than 19°C unlawful in the event of an energy shortage.

In addition, hot water should not be heated to more than 60 degrees, and portable electric heaters, saunas, and heated swimming pools are prohibited.

  1. Go long in the sweater business in Europe. Add firewood that too. LOL. And the smug eurotrash laughed at Trump who warned them against putting all their energy eggs in a single Matryoshka doll.

  2. Swiss here. This is much exaggerated. In particular the billboard claiming that neighbors get a reward for reporting each other: That was started by RT and is complete nonsense.

There are guidelines, but most of our thermostats are not even calibrated in degrees. Literally no one is going to be checking whether you heat to 19C or 20C.

I suppose if someone is really egregious about it, and heats their house until is smokes, someone might notice and care. Otherwise, no...

    2. If your t-stats aren't calibrated in degrees, what type of measurement do you use?

    3. Celsius, or in your case to confuse you Kelvins...

    4. A typical Swiss thermostat is just numbers 1-6. There's usually one in each room (or on each radiator), and you set it to where you are comfortable. In our (new build) house, there aren't even numbers, just lines.

I expect most people will turn their thermostats down a bit, but basically no one is going to be running around with a thermometer.

    5. Are your prisons heated?
      That might be incentive...

  3. And there are those useful idiots who believe we should be like the Euros; forgetting that most of our ancestors fled Europe to get away from this sort of control.

    1. Right, because because losing control of the thermostat in your own house could never happen. Certainly not in places like California or Colorado.

  8. The swiss have *ended* their longstanding adherance to neutrality. There's no taking that back.

  9. The Swiss without their saunas? A sauna was a better pick-up location than a bar back in the day.

  10. And in CA that idiot Newsome sitting in a closed room telling folks to turn down the thermostat, all the while wearing a zipped up fleece jacket and ball cap. Yeah, really concerned about the power consumption.
